Share invoices
A share link gives its holder access to an invoice's private details and payment page. You can copy it, send it by email, or create separate links for different recipients.
Copy the payment link#
- Open the invoice from Invoices.
- Select Share Invoice.
- Under Default Share Link, select Copy Link.
- Send the entire link to the customer through your chosen channel.
The path has the form /pay/:id?token=.... Keep the token query parameter intact. A bare /pay/:id link does not unlock the payment page's private invoice details.
Anyone with a valid link can view the invoice details. Forwarding it also forwards access. It is not restricted to a particular email address or wallet.
Send an invoice by email#
During creation, select Send invoice by email to the customer's displayed email. For an existing issued invoice, open its details and use Send invoice email when offered.
Email delivery depends on the deployment's email service being enabled. Check Email Delivery after sending:
| State | Meaning |
|---|---|
not_attempted | No send has been completed; check any reason shown. |
sending | A send attempt is in progress. |
provider_accepted | The email provider accepted the request, not proof of inbox delivery. |
delivered | The provider reported delivery. |
opened | The provider reported an open event, not proof of payment or acceptance of the bill. |
bounced or failed | Delivery did not succeed; check the reason and recipient address. |
Use Retry email delivery when offered. If invoice creation was still pending, wait for the invoice to appear and check its delivery section. Do not assume deferred email will be sent automatically. An email failure does not undo invoice issuance, and an email success does not mean the invoice is paid.
Create a separate access link#
In Share Invoice, select New Token. Add a label such as “Accountant” or “Customer billing,” optionally select Set expiration date, then select Create Token.
Copy the new link immediately. The new token is shown once. Labels help you manage tokens; they do not bind access to the named person.
The Access Tokens list shows creation, expiry, and usage information. Usage counts record token use, not a verified count of people who read the invoice.
Revoke or replace access#
- Use Revoke on a custom token to stop future access through that token.
- Use Regenerate beside Default Share Link to replace the default link and invalidate the previous default token.
- Send the replacement link to anyone who still needs access. If the email section offers Resend with new link, use it to send the updated link.
Regenerating the default does not revoke separately created custom tokens. Revocation does not cancel the invoice, hide its public on-chain information, or retract downloaded PDFs and screenshots.
Older invoices without encrypted metadata may not support share-link generation. See Troubleshooting and Security and privacy.
