Manage customers
Save customer billing details once and reuse them when issuing invoices. A customer record identifies the buyer; it does not require the buyer to create a Cleared account.
Add a customer#
- Open Customers and select Add Customer.
- Choose Company or Individual under Customer Type.
- Enter Company Legal Name or Full Name, and Email.
- Fill in Street Address, City, Postal Code, and Country. All four address fields are required.
- For a company, enter Company Registration Number.
- Select Save Customer.
You can also add a customer while creating an invoice. The same billing details are required there.
Optional information#
- Companies can include Trading Name / DBA.
- Individuals can include Tax ID.
- Both can include VAT/GST Number, Wallet Address, and Notes.
An optional wallet address must be a valid EVM address. Recording it does not restrict dashboard-created invoices to that wallet: those invoices are open for payment by a compatible funded wallet. The wallet that pays is recorded at settlement.
Find and update a customer#
Use Search customers... and the type filter in the customer list. Open a customer to view their details and associated invoices. Select Edit to update the reusable record.
Customer details are copied into invoice metadata at issuance. Edits apply to the customer record used for future invoices; they do not rewrite the billing details already recorded in an issued invoice. Email sending resolves the customer's current email address, so check it before sending or retrying a delivery.
Delete a customer#
Select Delete and review the confirmation. Deleting a customer does not cancel their invoices or erase on-chain history. For a customer with invoices, the confirmation explains that the record is archived and invoice history preserved.
To stop an unpaid invoice from being paid, use Cancel Invoice instead. To remove access to its private details, manage its share-link tokens.
